Looks like it's back to the drawing board...
I bought a replacement video camera as the original wasn't quite working the way it had in the past. Unfortunately, the dimensions of the new one, specifically the tripod mounting point, are not the same.
If the weather's OK tomorrow I'll be building a new mount 8-(
