Sunday Sunday...

Woke up this morning at about 0230. Then 0330. Then 0430. It got a little damp here as the rain began to fall, and the drumskin cleverly disguised as a tent did its job admirably. In other words, it was darn loud.

After rising at a more civil time (0630) I went for a wander up the coastal path towards an old house in some state of disrepair. I'd heard rumours that it was the better shower block, but I found these to be false when I spotted the remains of an Allegro and a boat on a trailer that would probably never move again.

Back to camp and I found that Paul had stirred from his slumber just enough to consider getting out of his tent. We then set about wondering why the suspension on the passenger side seemed a lot lower than it should be. Further investigation showed that we didn't need to jack up and strip (oo-er!) the back end; we just needed to park on ground that was less boggy and didn't let one side sink in more than the other.

As the weather looked less threatening than it had done earlier (in other words it had stopped drizzling and just looked evil) we popped off in Dennis to the Atlantic Village shopping outlet, looking for a hat for me and an alternate pair of trousers for Paul. Personally I would have enjoyed the sight of Paul wandering about in dayglow jhodpurs, but he was having none of it.

On returning to Dennis, the heavens opened. Well, turned inside out and dumped the contents of their rain buckets on us. The rain was so fierce the splashes from the raindrops formed a 2ft mist above the road. Thankfully, fast wipe works...

And so we returned to camp, where it was already starting to dry out. Chilling for a bit, we pondered what else we needed to do today.

Seeing as we couldn't come up with anything more interesting, and the rain looked like it might not descend on us just yet, we decided to explore the local area on foot, wandering along the coastal path and occasionally across the shoreline. It didn't take that long, even with Paul's "shoot-reshoot-reshoot again" photography techniques. Once we find somewhere with wifi we might get the pictures posted...

After a spot of lunch we headed back to camp for a bit of a chill-out before popping off to the Sunshine caff again for fish 'n' chips. Returning to camp, we got ice creams courtesy of "Scoop", one of the other North Devon Mini Register members - I'm sure you can guess what he does...

Once we got back, Terry handed out the car numbers and new routes (couple of slight changes, nothing that will affect the Breakdown Sweepstake) and we had Terry's version of the H&S chat, which was cool.

Then, after getting the stickers stuck in the right place, it was off back to the campsite entertainment lounge for some more of that Tribute stuff... And that's where I am now, writing this while Paul beats someone else at pool whilst drinking JD. No, sorry, beats someone with a pool cue because they drank his JD...

More tomorrow once we're back from Land's End...

Just sent you an e-mail thinking I was making a post!
Anyway, the weather in Shropshire should be OK when you get here. Am looking forward to waving you on when you are on the A5 Shrewsbury by-pass. Take care. DD
